“An idyllic, truly Canadian upbringing devolves into unimaginable traumas that lead to alcoholism and addiction. Johnnie and Me is a memoir of innocence, pain, hope, recovery, and love.”

“[Embracing the Journey of Recovery] is a refreshing change in comparison to other recovery books that I have read, which so often deal with a simple step by step guide, ignoring the pain and agony that one must pass through in order to reach his/her goal.”
A note from Larry…
This website reflects my personal experiences and opinions about recovery. I am not speaking on behalf of any specific recovery program, group, or organization. While my books may reference certain recovery programs or literature, these references are solely for illustrative purposes and should not be interpreted as endorsements or official representations.
Recovery is possible. It’s a journey, and no two paths look exactly the same. My mission is to inspire and collaborate with others to create meaningful conversations about recovery. Together, we can help more people find freedom from addiction and reclaim their lives.
I believe recovery should address the four critical pillars: harm reduction, treatment, law enforcement, and prevention. While harm reduction has its place in saving lives, true recovery requires hope, healing, and connection. My goal is to advocate for approaches that emphasize long-term transformation.
Here’s the simple truth: there is a way out of the hopelessness of addiction—whether you’re struggling yourself or watching a loved one suffer. There are people who care and resources to help. Through my books, blog, and collaborations with like-minded individuals, I aim to bring that message to the forefront and spark real, impactful change.
I hope this website inspires meaningful conversations and connections, but it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, treatment, or therapy. Always consult a qualified professional for any personal or medical concerns.
